What a great find! I was searching online for a vegan restaurant when I arrived in Colorado. I was surprised that the first place I found was the right place! I didn’t even have to do extensive searching to find my first good meal in Colorado. Yay! This rarely happens so I was super grateful.
Native Foods Cafe is a fully dedicated vegan restaurant located right off of Colorado Boulevard in the heart of Glendale. It’s a great place to have lunch with a friend or a good spot for a date night. The restaurant is located in a convenient area only 6 minutes from the Cherry Creek Mall. It has a full dine-in section where you can sit inside or an outside patio where you can catch a good vibe.
LET’S LOOK INTO THE MENU
Native Foods has a robust menu where you can find some delectable raw options. It’s what I call an “All-American Restaurant”. With everything from dippers to wraps, french-fries to salads and even desserts.
For starters I would highly recommend the Cauliflower Dippers. They are delicious little bites of cauliflower tossed in Buffalo or Thai chili cilantro sauce, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots and green onion with a side of ranch. They are panko-crusted which is good news because they are not only scrumptious, but they’re gluten-free. The flavor is indistinguishable to Buffalo Wings, and they are just as filling as an entree.
Now let’s talk entrees. One recommendation would definitely be the Nachos. It’s a healthy portion of corn tortilla chips, black beans, lime cream, chipotle sauce, salsa fresca, roasted corn, green onions, cilantro and jalapeño slices. If you have a corn allergy, you can replace the corn tortilla chips with french-fries and omit the roasted corn. Both are amazingly delicious!
Another great option is the Cauliflower Po’ Boy. Man o’ man! This is my favorite dish at Native Foods. It reminds me of New Orleans, with the Cajun-seasoning cooked into the fried cauliflower, then topped with pickle chips, tomatoes, lettuce and creamy Cajun sauce, placed in-between a toasted French baguette. And on top of that, you even get a side option. I recommend the Seasoned Fries or Sweet Potato Fries for the perfect combo.
I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I didn’t recommend the Cauliflower Chickpea Shawarma Wrap. The wrap consists of shawarma-style chickpeas and cauliflower, creamy tahini sauce, quinoa, tomato cucumber salad, ranch, mint, parsley, all stuffed into a whole wheat tortilla. It also comes with a side dish. The Mac n’ Cheese is a great option. The Cauliflower Chickpea Shawarma Wrap is truly one of a kind. It’s filling, healthy and taste remarkable! Native Foods knocked it out of the park with this one!
After all is said and done, wash it all down with Native Foods signature Lavender Lemonade. I never tasted anything like it! It’s literally lavender and lemons, sweetened with Raw Cane Sugar which is a healthier option compared to traditional white sugar.
